The International Association for Cannabinoid Medicine (IACM) was founded in March 2000 in Germany. It is a scientific organization that supports the development of a legal framework for using herbal cannabis and its pharmacologically active components, the cannabinoids, as a medicine, by stimulating research and spreading information. The IACM declares it is the right of doctors to discuss the use of cannabis-based medicine with their patients.

IACM members receive a regular newsletter as well as other publications. Most publications are available on-line in several languages. The IACM also publishes an on-line peer-reveiwed research journal called .

Regional departments

Members from specific countries or regions can set up a regional department of the IACM in order to focus on specific needs and goals. So far, such departments have been set up e.g. for France, Norway and Croatia. Departments can choose their own representatives and regulations. All members should have equal rights, and decisions need to be taken according to the guidelines of the German department of the IACM. Existing national organizations may also join the IACM, if their goals and principles are compatible.
