Origins, Genetics, History
Rainbow Kush is a 50 % Indica and 50 % Sativa weed hybrid with THC levels that come up to 17 %. It is a child of the Dancehall and Blueberry, or Master Kush and the Hindu Kush strains. The variety from Lifetime Seeds uses the former, Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds the latter. Both varieties have a strong pine taste and bright colors.
Appearance and Smell
Rainbow Kush can grow to a medium height. Buds are a mix between Sativa and Indica. You get a strong mix of fragrances: ginger, pine, spice, earth, skunk, citrus, tropical, all the smells of the rainbow. You, of course, get all the colors of the rainbow: red, purple, green, yellow, and sticky white trichomes.
How to Grow Rainbow Kush Cannabis Seeds or Cuttings
Growing weed from Rainbow Kush cannabis seeds or cuttings is said by growers to be somewhat involved. This is because, in order to get your weed to be nice and colorful, there are a handful of special things you need to do.
First things first, get your plants in the ground. If you’re using a grow room, get out your 5-gallon buckets. Get a good mix of soil with some Flower Power fertilizer. Make sure the ph in your soil is between 6.0 to 7.0, as this will affect the coloration. You are trying to bring out the anthocyanins, the same red pigment that makes red wine so healthy. They dilate blood vessels and allow people who are eating too much to get some blood pumping around their body. Unfortunately, they can also cause dizziness for the same reason, so be careful if you have a dizziness disorder like vertigo or POTS. Choose a greener weed without vasodilators in it. Now get your High Discharge lamps and put them such that your leaves are gonna get the most light during the daylight lighting hours. Now you got your plants peeking out of the soil.
You need to pay very careful attention to temperature, as this is the most important factor in bringing out your colors. Setting the temperature a few degrees coolers during your nighttime lighting hours is what is gonna bring out the anthocyanins. Just like leaves turn red during the fall, you’re doing the same thing in a controlled way. You wanna turn your leaves yellow, green, red, and purple. Try using 76 to 81 degrees during the day, 65 to 70 at night. That’ll get your leaves nice and bright. Your buds will get the same coat of many colors.
If you grow your plants outside, you have to choose the right place to make sure your plants get a little cooler during the growing phase right before harvest to bring out the anthocyanins and carotenoids that make your plants all the colors of the rainbow. You can expect a medium yield growing indoors and outdoors.
Medicinal Marijuana Review / Focus on Hypoactive Sexual Desire
Rainbow Kush is a 50 / 50 Indica / Sativa with up to 17 % THC. This makes it an uplifting strain that doesn’t go overboard in sedation or excitation. It’s a balanced hybrid. You will get a pleasant mood boost and still be able to function. This can make it a great medication to use for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome is ranked as one of the most painful conditions humans experience. It is sometimes ranked as more painful than cancer, amputation, and childbirth. During CRPS attacks, a limb of the body may swell up, be in extreme pain, and exhibit changes in the skin. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome may develop after an injury, heart attack, stroke, or other illness. It is proposed that the initial event alters the way the immune system and nervous system deals with sensation in the affected limbs. There can be overactive pain signals and inflammation which occurs for no seeming reason.
Marijuana has long been known to be effective in the treatment of neuropathic pain. Since the initial injury has long since healed, the pain from CRPS is considered neuropathic, even though there is also swelnlig and skin changes. Neuropathic does not mean psychogenic. It means pain signals are boosted due to nerve damage. A study done in 2013 and published in The Journal of Pain, found that low dose vaporized cannabis improves pain symptoms in CRPS and other neuropathic pain conditions (Wilsey, et al., 2013). Rainbow Kush has a moderate amount of THC and can be used to treat this debilitating condition.

Effects
Rainbow weed is a mild weed you can use when you need a bit of stimulation but still need to get work done. It’s a great weed for daytime hours. Rainbow weed will first titillate your visual senses. This has more of an effect than you would think. All the fruity colors get your mind a little buzzed. Then the bouquet of fragrances from the anthocyanins and carotenoids hit your nose. When leaves change colors in fall, that’s not spoilage unless it’s turning brown. That’s the production of powerful plant chemicals that protect the plant and provide flavor and fragrance to any animal that happens upon the use of the plant. These substances boost the effect of the THC in your weed and give you a full sensory experience.
