Appearance and Smell
Zookies are tall plants, growing 6 to 8 ft. tall. The buds are tightly packed and full of THC. They are purple and green with orange hairy pistils and shiny dewdrops of THC full trichomes.
The flavor is diesel, pepper, spice, ginger, citrus, and cookies. These smells come from the terpene profile and they help guide your smoking experience and impress themselves heavily upon the memory.
How to Grow Zookies Cannabis Seeds or Cuttings
Growing weed from Zookies cannabis seeds or cuttings is said to be of moderate difficulty. These plants grow to around 6 feet indoors. You can get a better yield using topping techniques. Indoors, you can start by getting high discharge lamps. You might opt for a lamp with a red and blue light so you can manipulate light levels to induce flowering. You may want to do a basic growth using 5-gallon buckets. You will have to do your research to source seeds or cuttings. Go to the Alien Lab’s page for information or contact them for information on seed banks that sell their seeds. Choose a good organic soil and fertilizer from the myriad sources online or at your local gardening store. You can use a fan and exhaust system to keep your plants with clean air and at the proper humidity. Induce flowering for photoperiodic strains in 9 weeks with a 12 hours dark / 12 hours light schedule or a mix of blue and red light. Indoor yields are about 14 ounces per meter squared.
Outside you need a sunny spot like around the California coast. Your plants will need care and monitoring due to not having strong disease resistance and producing delicious smells. It is worth the effort. You can get 16 ounces per plant.
Medicinal Marijuana Review / Mast Cell Activation Syndrome
Zookies is 50 percent Indica and 50 percent Sativa. THC levels can be as high as 30 %. There is some speculation that medical marijuana may be helpful in treating distress in persons suffering from Mast Cell Activation Disorder. This is because, in addition to brightening mood, cannabis may act to quiet down mast cell activity.
Mast cells are a type of immune cell. They help control and defeat viruses, bacteria, and other parasites. They do this by releasing mediators like nitric oxide, serotonin, histamine, tryptase, and other inflammatory substances that cause tissues to expand so that immune factors can move freely through tissues and destroy and expel the invaders. However, in some people, these cells overreact to mild stimulation such as allergens like wheat, eggs, or even sunlight. This can lead to a response which is full anaphylaxis or milder forms of anaphylaxis. Reactions can be dangerous or require EpiPen injections. Symptoms can flare in response to an allergen or for no observable cause. Symptoms can include itching, skin breakouts, gastrointestinal distress, severe fatigue, fainting, presyncope, nausea, and vomiting. Patients often go years without diagnosis or are told their symptoms are ‘in their heads”.
Mast cells express on their surface CB1 and CB2 receptors to which THC strongly binds (CBD does not bind to these receptors). Researchers have demonstrated that marijuana can stop mast cells from degranulating and releasing mediators which cause allergic symptoms.[1]
A leading mast cell researcher, Dr. Afrin, surmised that chronic pain patients whose symptoms responded to nothing but medical marijuana may be suffering from undiagnosed MCAS. Another substance that binds to CB1 receptors, palmitoylethanolamide, has been shown to prevent mast cell degranulation.[2] Therefore it is reasonable to suppose that persons with mast cell activation disorder may benefit from treatment with medical marijuana. Those allergic to other constituents of the plant might rather choose a product containing pure THC like FDA approved Sativex.

Effects
The first hit of a high THC strain of Zookies goes straight to the head. You sense your worries have been pushed out of your head, replaced with a pleasurable sensation and a bit of mental fuzziness. In the first few minutes stimulation and euphoria build. It is soon overcome by a sense of relaxation and well-being. You may feel locked to the couch, hungry, or sleepy, depending on your tolerance. This is heavy-duty stuff, so have your schedule cleared before you imbibe.
