History, Genetics, Origins
Guava plants have genetic origins which are 25 percent Indica and 75 percent Sativa. Its THC levels come up to 22 %. Its parents are Afghani and Stardawg. Some people grow a Gelato phenotype also called Guava for its identical properties.
Appearance and Smell
Guava is a medium-sized plant. It grows 3 to 5 feet in height. Guava refers to the citrusy tropical fruit to which this strain of weed is compared in terms of taste and potency. The nugget you can see above has a hairy sativa appearance but bright green grains sticking out among brown pistols that demonstrate the health and maturity of the plant. There is also a touch of yellow and a lemon-lime citrusy look to the nugget. It has the flavor of guava which is that of a citrusy berry. It is also sweet, diesel, gasoline, and with a touch of chemicals. This is a good way to help spark the appetite and dispel nausea.
How to Grow Guava Cannabis Seeds
Growing weed from Guava cannabis seeds is said to be easy by cultivators. This is a tasty delight you can grow at home. In order to bring out the high THC and strong flavors, however, you need to control every part of the environment of your plant.
To have total control of your plant’s growth, you can grow indoors. This allows you to control airflow, how much light your plants get, and to change out the soil to add different nutrients for different stages of growth.
You can start your indoor weed grow by getting your flowering pots ready. Weed plants will need about a 20 liter or 5-gallon pot to make sure the roots have all the space they need to stretch out and grab nutrients. You can use regular flowering pots or get fancy ones. They have fabric pots and pots with aeration holes that allow the soil to breathe.
The next thing you need is a tent to grow your plants in. The reason you want a tent is that it will have a reflective lining that will throw the light back onto your plant and save you money. Also, you can control the air quality and humidity much better with a tent. You will need a fan to intake clean outside air containing oxygen and CO2. The tent will help you adjust your humidity for different stages of growth.
Your lights need to be high discharge. Many people use high-pressure sodium lights. These kinds of lights put sodium vapor under pressure and pass elections through it producing intense light of wide variation in wavelength. Your reflective material will help keep this light focused on your plants. Mylar is sometimes used, and some people use aluminum.
Your soil will be loam, a mix of clay, sand, and silt. Get organic soil without pesticides. It will also contain some of the microbiomes your roots will need. Your fertilizer and nutrients will be different for each stage of growth. Your main nutrients are Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium.
Germination is how you began your journey. If you remember buying a bad bag of weed of undiscoverable origins back in the days of prohibition, you had to remove seeds from your weed. Why? Because at this time, growers did not remove the males to get their female plants to devote all of their resources to producing powerful buds rather than seeds. Therefore, the female flowers became pregnant and produced seeds. There’s nothing wrong with such weed, except you may lose a small amount of potency and you will have to pick the seeds out. Anyway, those little seeds are where life begins for your plants. You need to germinate them. Germination is easy and fun. Take two paper plates and two paper towels to get you set up. Place one wet paper towel on a plate. Space your seeds out on the paper towel. Now cover with the other wet paper towel and cover the whole thing with the other plate. Wait 3 days, then check to see if you have seedlings. Seedlings will have a little root coming out and sometimes a small leaf. At this point, they are ready to go into the soil.
- Seedling stage, for up to two weeks
For up to two weeks you will have small adolescent plants called seedlings. To get them started, make sure your soil is moist and has the NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) ratio that you want for seedlings. You now want high nitrogen and lesser amounts of the other two nutrients. Your fertilizer will also contain other nutrients like magnesium and calcium. Your seeds need the highest amounts of light, from 18 to 24 hours per day so that photosynthesis will get them the best start in life. Humidity should be high, about 70 %. At the end of this stage, you should have mature fan leaves with the famous weed look.
- Vegetative stage, for two to eight weeks
You now have teens and young adults. Unless you know you have feminized seeds, you will need to be on the lookout for males so that you can remove them and prevent your females from getting pollinated. You can use your males to make hemp fiber, weed tea, or for breeding. However, you know how sticky pollen is, so it’s best to go ahead and find uses for your males before they begin pollinating. Your females will have fine hairs coming from their budding structures used to catch pollen, and males will not, as their organs will be producing pollen. Coincidentally, male leaves have higher THC than felmale leaves before they mature sexually, so males are fine for low-THC medicinals and hemp products. Of course, later, both female leaves and buds will have far higher THC than males. Leaves do not have high THC even in females, but still can be used for low THC medicinals which can be very effective for health uses. You will raise your potassium and nitrogen during this stage. Also, give your plants 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark during this stage.
- Flowering, for 7 to 9 weeks
Now you have all females and they are producing non-pollinated buds. They are getting a bit desperate to become pregnant so the buds are getting big and they are producing lots of protective THC and terpenes. These are produced partly as communication with the animal and fungi kingdoms. As you have no doubt experienced, THC can influence the nervous system of animals like insects and humankind, causing them to want to propagate the weed species far and wide. Once they get their babies into the hands of these greedy humans, the cannabis species can really take off. Ask the tobacco and cocaine plant. But, genetic diversity can suffer. In fact, weed may be one of the few species where humans have actually figured out the blessing that genetic diversity is, and therefore started making more and more diverse strains, instead of one strain with only a handful of survival tricks, fully dependent on human husbandry, but that’s a discussion for another time. Let’s get high bro. Your nitrogen content will be lowered during this stage, with your phosphorus and potassium staying the same.
- Harvesting
You’ve done it. Your leaves will start to yellow, your buds will be big and ready. It’s fall after all, in the mind of your plant.
Watch your trichomes too. They will go from clear to cloudy, to amber. You want to harvest when they are cloudy. That’s when they will give the smoothest high. Remember, these are produced to communicate to animals when to help the plants become pollinated, but also to prevent the animal or insect from eating too much of the plant. So if you try to pick it at the wrong time, it will give you a high that makes you too stoned to move, as this will stop the insect from eating the plant.
Harvesting too early, of course, is always a no-no. Most plants will punish you if you take their green babies. In this respect, weed is no different. It will give you a harsh high if harvested too early.
If you have auto-flowering seeds that produce buds at a specific time regardless of lighting, your seed supplier should tell you when to harvest. Autoflowering plants may not show yellowing of leaves since they kinda don’t care about the time of the season. They bud when they are ready. Once your buds are nice and big, they are ready for harvest.
One option for harvesting is to harvest in the early morning hours. Your plants will just be looking out for the sun, standing up straight and strong. You can harvest in sections, this will give you a little time for your trimming, drying, and storing practices to take place over time instead of all at once. You can start harvesting at the top of the plant, cutting off the limbs, leaving the plant alive. It won’t hurt your weed plant. One of the ways weed reproduces is they simply drop a branch onto the ground and clone themselves, so they are used to this. They won’t punish you for it.
Organic growers don’t have to flush the roots, to stop them from absorbing harsh chemicals into the buds. So, grow organic and you’re ready for harvest without flushing.
Trimming
Trimming takes a lot of time. Get yourself some precision trimming tools and try to enjoy the process. Meditate. This is your moment of Zen. Play some good music. Have some patience.
Drying
You’re gonna hang your bud on branches to dry. Drying will take about a week. 50 % humidity is a good level for drying. Your temperature, you want to have around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. You can test the humidity of your bud itself using your hygrometer. You want the humidity around 65 %.
Curing
Curing your plants will make the smoke less harsh. During curing, you will let your plants sit in sealed mason jars for up to 2 months. Every week or so, open the jars to let some air exchange happen for around 15 minutes. Cured bud smokes a lot better as the harsher chemical irritants the plant produces degrade and the cannabinoids mature.
Test the humidity periodically to make sure it doesn’t get above 70 %. If you want to go the expensive route, you can use CVaults and a Cannador for storage. These fancy products keep your humidity at perfect levels for curing and storage. Boveda packs are also used to control humidity. But, if you are looking to make a good monetary profit, you probably want to keep costs down, so you can do things the old-fashioned way. With great attention to detail, it will come out just as fancy.
Guava yields are about 2 ounces per square foot or 3 ounces per plant. This is a fruity weed and will sell for good prices. Good luck.
Medicinal Marijuana Review
Guava is 25 percent Indica and 75 percent Sativa. THC levels can be up to 22 %. Guava can provide a balanced stimulation. This can make it good for ADHD.
What is ADHD? It stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It used to be mostly diagnosed in children and treated with stimulants such as methylphenidate, amphetamine, and methamphetamine. It is also sometimes treated with guanfacine which used to be a blood pressure medication. Many doctors confuse guanfacine with stimulant medications and think it is a scheduled drug. It can therefore be difficult to get appropriate treatment due to the ignorance in the medical field about the illness and the tendency of primary care physicians to try to treat it with scheduled narcotics in children. Adult ADHD is now being more normally recognized and treated as well. These diseases contain a strong cultural component and do not exist in some societies. In our societies of mass production, we are expected to sit still and pay attention in school and at work. Sedentary lifestyles are expected even of children. Children are expected to sit still up to 6 or 7 hours per day, and then do another 2 hours of sedentary homework. Therefore, the inability to sit still has been pathologized. However, we all have to live in the societies we have adopted and to survive we may have to be still and there are better ways to do it than to give amphetamines to children.
The main facets of ADHD are inattention, psychomotor hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Children may be unable to sit still in class. Some children diagnosed with ADHD have many co-morbid disorders such as autism or seizure disorders which can be very debilitating and/or painful. We will not here discuss the use of medicinal cannabis in children as most of the uses now are anecdotal and are prescribed for children with co-occurring seizure disorders. However, some anecdotal evidence is amassing that medicinal marijuana or CBD can help with self-harming behaviors such as head banging and self-mutilation. These occur as the pain system has gone awry and the harming behaviors may produce some endorphin or endocannabinoid that may mitigate some internal irritation the child with ADHD and seizure disorder may be experiencing unable to express.
We can here look at the use of medicinal cannabis for ADHD in adults. The evidence is still anecdotal and results are just underway. According to a review of online discussion published in the scientific journal PLoS One, 25 % of respondents found therapeutic uses for cannabis in ADHD.[1] Different strains will produce different effects. Some users experienced a decrease in executive function using cannabis. It is known already that some users will get a relaxant effect while others may get a stimulant effect from weed despite whether it is sativa or indica. However, this highly Sativa strain may be expected, like other stimulants prescribed for ADHD, to have the paradoxical effect of causing a focused relaxation that increases the ability of the adult to focus, may treat pain, seizure, anxiety, or other co-occurring disorders that may be contributing to the problem. If you have experienced improvement using medical marijuana let us know. If you are curious, ask your doctor about a prescription where it is legal.

Effects
Guava is valued for its terpenes. It tastes like that sweet, citrusy, concentrated tropical fruit for which it is named. The high flavor creates an entourage effect that gets you a very pleasant high. This is a sativa strain so it’s going to get you stimulated and euphoric pretty fast.
