Best Detox Drink to Pass Urine Drug Test
What detox drink is the best for THC drug test? Is detox tea effective for a marijuana drug test? Is it possible to pass a drug test with a homemade detox drink? We carried out extensive research on THC detox drinks and found the very best detox cleanse beverage for cannabis. This particular cannabis cleanse drink will help you pass a drug test for probation, employment, or other purposes. About 57% of American companies require their employees take a drug test, according to findings of the poll carried out by the Society for Human Resource Management.
Drug & Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) commissioned and collaborated with Management SHRM. Results showed a vast majority of employers (69%) who require drug tests from job candidates have done so for seven years or longer. About 12% of employers had the drug test policy for job applicants for five to six years.
Drug Tests for Pot and Other Drugs
Although our main focus is on urine drug tests for cannabis, it’s worth mentioning there are other types of drug tests too. They are:
Hair follicle testing
Hair removed from the scalp or another part of the body is used for this type of drug test. The main reason hair test is often utilized is that hair stores drug metabolites for longer periods. Hair follicle drug test can detect traces of various substances for more than three months. In other words, a hair drug test can determine whether you used a certain drug within the last 90 days. A hair drug test can look for traces of marijuana, opiates, methamphetamine, PCP, and ecstasy. That said, it takes a while for a drug metabolite to reach a person’s scalp. For that reason, hair drug test is unable to detect whether a person has used a drug in recent periods such as within the last seven days.
Perspiration (sweat) test
The sweat test is a relatively new drug test. It is usually a court-ordered type of test. The perspiration test includes the use of a patch that collects a person’s sweat for two weeks i.e. 14 days. However, most drugs are eliminated from the body in about two days, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. That’s why administering urine tests for several days or weeks continuously is often necessary when observing potential substance abusers. The test has the potential to measure the concentration of substances consumed during that period. As a result, it may also function to deter drug addiction.
Blood testing
The accuracy of the blood test is similar to that of the urine drug test. A blood test is usually unable to test for substances used over 30 days ago. The only exception here is heavy marijuana use, which could be detected on a blood test after that timeframe. Blood tests determine whether a person has used drugs within the last 24 hours.
Urine testing
Urine test is the most frequently administered drug test around. Since the test is sensitive, it is capable of detecting substance use after 24 hours of ingestion up to 30 days. In analyses of drug tests, a big role belongs to the urine creatinine. You see, urine creatinine allows the clinicians to adapt to the relative level or urine dilution. Urine concentration by your kidneys can increase levels of drug metabolites. For that reason, urine creatinine divides the concentration of certain substances in the urine as well as their metabolites. One example
is THC. The urine excretion of THC can last for a month after the last use in heavy users. Urine tests that show a person is positive for cannabis use (i.e. THC) should be deduced with caution. It is necessary to distinguish new use from ongoing excretion.
The main purpose of THC detox kits is to give cannabis smokers a chance to pass a drug test. Cannabis is a substance that remains in the system because it can hide in adipose (fat) cells. In fact, marijuana can remain in the body a lot longer than other illicit drugs and substances.
Urine test: how does it work?
The only federal government-approved method of drug testing is a urine test. That’s the main reason urine drug test is mandatory for employment in government and government-regulated positions. Truck-driving is a good example here. Many companies and organizations utilize urine drug testing because it is legally robust and affordable.
The main objective of a urine drug test is to detect metabolites of various drugs and alcohol in a person’s urine sample. In some cases, exceptions are made for prescription-based medications. That said, many companies and the Department of Transportation have a zero-tolerance policy. They don’t make allowances or exceptions for prescription medications like Oxycontin and Klonopin, even if those medications have side effects such as sleepiness or drowsiness. These adverse reactions can decrease driving abilities. When a urine drug test is required, it usually tests for drugs such as:
- Barbiturates
- Amphetamines
- Cocaine
- Benzodiazepines
- Designer cannabinoids, like K2 or Spice
- Designer stimulants also are known as “Bath Salts”
- Ecstasy, MDMA metabolites
- Marijuana
- Opiates
- Methadone
- Oxycodone
- Propoxyphene
- Phencyclidine (PCP)
The most common cases when a urine drug test is needed are to provide more information to the court, employer, or doctor. Results of a urine drug test fall into the category of medical information. For that reason, urine drug test results should be treated like other medical information – with confidentiality. The reality is different and this may not always happen in practice. For example, authorities can and will make certain details of a person’s arrest public, including the results of a drug test. However, a person who commits a crime hasn’t forfeited medical confidentiality. And yet, their drug test results are made public anyway.
As previously stated, a urine drug test can determine whether a person has used drugs or substances within the last 24 hours to three days. Marijuana, on the other hand, can stay in your blood for 30 days at detectable levels. Many companies and organizations rely on urine drug screening to save money. How do urine drug tests help save money, you wonder? They do so by reducing lost productivity, workplace accidents, and legal problems.
Procedure
The urine drug testing process is simple and straightforward. A person is accompanied into the bathroom with a specimen cup. Then, you need to provide a sample of 3oz minimum. Once you catch the sample mid-stream you need to continue urinating and flush. If you don’t do so, your sample will not be accepted.

How Do Detoxification Remedies Work?
Most detox drinks work via dilution. Dilution is a process of increasing the amount of water, creatinine, b-vitamins, and electrolytes in proportion to drug metabolites in your urine so that the drug metabolites are undetectable. You can imagine drug metabolites as a food coloring. A small topfull of green food coloring will be visible in a cup of water. But if you add another cup of water, it will become diluted, and if you keep adding water, eventually you will be unable to see the food coloring. This is dilution. However, crafty test makers can discover dilution by looking for normal levels of color (yellow color from B-Vitamins), creatinine (a metabolite of creatine excreted from the kidneys), and electrolytes (amounts of sodium and potassium which should be contained in urine).
FAQ
A detox drink is a beverage or remedy believed to increase the chance of passing a urine drug test. Most drinks of this kind exhibit their effects through dilution. Others may have a different mechanism of action. Vice channel carried out an experiment which showed some detox drinks may yield a false negative result on a standard urine drug test, thereby helping persons with substance abuse pass the test despite the fact they have ingested those substances. Though test makers are constantly trying to find ways in which the use of adulterants for masking in detoxing drinks can be detected, some drinks will pass the test and give you a cleaner test result that you deserve.
Some of these drinks may work for marijuana which is the drug that has the longest staying time in the system, it is, therefore, reasonable to assume they may work for drugs that leave the system the fastest.
Few detox drinks can be caught by a drug test, but the drink can fail or the sample may come back diluted or inconclusive.
Detox drinks contain creatine and sometimes sugar and protein and therefore they can spoil. Be sure to check the expiration date.

Simple tips and tricks for passing a urine drug test
To elevate the levels of creatinine, you should look for a drink that promotes the intake of a lot of water combined with B-complex vitamins, electrolytes. It can be a herbal and safe diuretic such as caffeine and creatine. You can make the test more tolerable with a little bit of sugar, but avoid using it or, at least, don’t overdo it. Too much sugar could lead to unexpected results of a urine drug test. Avoid detox drinks with too many herbal ingredients as it is too difficult to decide if one of the ingredients can cause an overdose which can damage your system or cause inconclusive test results. However, you can research detox drinks on your site what each ingredient does and if it is liable to overdose.
The Science of Adulterants in Detox Drinks
Do take these!
- Zinc may be beneficial for passing a drug test. It works by producing false negatives (Lents & Venkatratnam).
- Papain is also effective for passing a cannabis test. Papain is a commonly used meat-tenderizer (Burrows, et al., 2005). Similar substances like bromelain may have similar effects. They break down THC metabolites.
- Iodine can destroy morphine metabolites but may be detected by drug tests. If you use iodine to mask opiate drugs, do not take more than a normal supplemental dose (Dasgupta, Wahed, & Wells, 2002)
Do Not Take These!
Dangerous and Potentially Ineffective Adulterants Added directly to specimen cup (avoid these and never drink them)
Common adulterants added directly to the specimen are common items and chemicals every household has. These include:
- Laundry detergent
- Hypochlorite beach
- Products for cleaning a toilet bowl
- Commercial items used as adulterants, that you should avoid at all costs, include:
- Stealth® (containing peroxide and peroxidase)
- UrinAid (containing glutaraldehyde)
- Klear® (containing potassium nitrite)
- Urine Luck (containing pyridinium chlorochromate)
- A normal dose of niacin can be effective, but niacin is easy to overdose and this can cause liver failure (Durham, Covington, & Clemmons, 2018).
The abovementioned adulterants can invalidate a confirmatory test result, a screening test result, or both. As many people have started using adulterants, drug testing laboratories decided to put a stop to this practice. For that purpose, the laboratories have created multiple analytical methods all of which are specifically focused on detecting adulterants in urine samples. (Fu, 2016)
More precisely, makers of drug tests have created methods to catch these adulterants.
Home Remedies (for detoxification)
If you want a homemade detox drink or do dilution without buying a premade product, you will need the following ingredients
- B-vitamins
- Creatine
- Salt, sugar, baking soda
- Caffeine, coffee, or tea
- Water
- Natural adulterants at normal doses (papain, iodine, zinc)
You will have to play with the amounts to get the desired results so you will need to purchase drug testing kits. However, you should not take more than about 5 grams of creatine per day, and your b-vitamin dosage should be just what is on the label of your product. The same goes for the baking soda and salt. For the baking soda, you want to take slightly less than the dosage you would take for acid overproduction, which is half of a teaspoon. As far as salt, just a dash per cup of water, not more than you would normally eat or is contained in Gatorade. You can become ill from water intoxication if you drink too much water without salt and baking soda but you can also become ill if you drink water which contains too much electrolyte, so to be on the safe side, do not use more than you would normally consume in a day or get from regular food. These are all merely normal food ingredients.
When you get your testing kits to measure drug levels, be sure that your test includes a test for creatinine and correct specific gravity. Your urine should also be yellow and smell like urine or the specimen could get flagged. You can get these testing kits at a bargain online or you can buy the exact same drug test which is likely to be used for your formal test at a reputable pharmacy. The drug test kits you buy in pharmacies are sometimes developed by the same manufacturers that create tests used by potential employers.
It’s useful to be aware of some warnings if you plan to make a THC detox kit by yourself. For example, some people may opt to use dangerous chemicals such as nitrates, Clorox, or they attempt putting chemical adulterants into their urine cups. Some people may take iodine in high doses to pass a drug test. To do so is dangerous and ineffective. Testing labs can detect these adulterants. The dilution method of detoxification should be done in a way such that you are not taking in far more water, electrolytes, minerals, and herbs that you could safely take in a normal day of eating, drinking, and supplementing with vitamins and herbs. You are merely timing it in such a way as to provide a window of time when your urine is dilute but still has a normal level of electrolytes and creatinine.

Conclusion
If you are not confident that you have waited enough time or any time at all for your system to be free of drugs and you need a quick fix, using a detox drink may be something which you might consider doing. We cannot advise you to take any action at all which might be illegal in your jurisdiction. However, it could be the very livelihood of you and your children at stake, so we know it is just as honorable to do what you must do to support your family as it is to show up to a drug test you are sure to fail and let fate have its way with your loved one’s well-being. You may decide to try a detox program.
One option is to try with dilution without purchasing some random, special items. If you believe that you’ll need to use a detox regimen a few times due to the fact you have probation or haven’t started a career, it may be a practical idea to separately purchase ingredients instead of choosing a store-bought detox drink. These drinks can range from $20 to $90. Most of them work via dilution and contain similar ingredients. You can buy creatine pretty cheap. It’s a fine supplement to take daily at about 2.5g. Of course, water and salt are very cheap. Besides these elements, you will also need B-complex vitamins as well as tea or coffee that will have the role of a diuretic. You can do your own dilution program with these ingredients. Additionally, there is also an option to buy a 2-quart bottle in which you will combine a maximum of day-worth amounts of each supplement. Shake well and drink the beverage several hours before the test time. This could allow you to maintain more stable levels of creatinine over time because instead of taking in all your creatine at once and letting your kidneys just get rid of it all, you are taking it in overtime and allowing the body to slowly saturate with these ingredients rather than just getting it all in and out in one go. However, it appears that the usual method of taking a detox drink all at once, then flushing with large amounts of water can be effective. In fact, this is the approach we at least know for sure has worked for some people, even if it’s not the most cost-effective approach. Don’t forget to test out your plan by getting some drug tests and giving it a run through or two until you test negative and know exactly how you want to operate on test day.
